Deputy Sheriff Scott Ballantyne and Mr. James Chavez, a civilian pilot, were killed in an airplane crash near Lake Success at approximately 4:15 pm.

The Tulare County Deputy Sheriff's Association was established in 1967. The association’s membership consists of Deputies and Sergeants employed by the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department.

TCDSA Mission Statement:
The Tulare County Deputy Sheriff’s Association (TCDSA) is a non-profit, tax exempt corporation consisting of employees and associates of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department.
Our mission is to be a voice in the community that works toward the common good of the members and the residents of Tulare County.
